Why Offshore Wind
Offshore wind is a clean, affordable, plentiful and renewable source of energy.

Massachusetts has been called “The Saudi Arabia of wind.” Just 25 miles off the commonwealth’s southeastern coast blows among the strongest and most reliable winds anywhere on the globe. And that wind can deliver vast quantities of energy with zero emissions at prices that will save the state’s electric customers hundreds of millions of dollars annually while producing thousands of new jobs.

Thank you, Governor Baker.

Offshore Wind: Massachusetts would like to thank Governor Charlie Baker for signing into law “An Act to Promote Energy Diversity. This landmark energy legislation positions Massachusetts to lead the nation in pursuit of a new clean energy frontier. The “Act to Promote Energy Diversity” requires Massachusetts to generate 1,600 megawatts of electricity from offshore wind – enough to power over a half million homes across the Commonwealth. This is America’s largest state commitment to offshore wind power to date and represents a bold move needed to launch the U.S. offshore wind industry.

We at Offshore Wind: Massachusetts have many to thank for this tremendous effort, and we look forward to working with each of our partners in the months ahead to ensure this legislation ushers in what will be outstanding economic and environmental opportunity for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Onward!
